GearSpoke and ChildVenture New Friendship

Like many things in life, peer-to-peer (P2P) renting is all about who you know. GearSpoke has been making new friends with other outdoor and technology organizations and is pleased to announce our public friendship with ChildVenture. If you don’t already know ChildVenture, go ahead and get excited now (crowd cheers!). ChildVenture is an adventure tour company for children, and they’re not your typical adventurish mom and pop shindig either. Kids go on two-week expeditions into rugged Alaskan wilderness that few people ever see. (OMG- Kids out of the house for two weeks, what will you ever do with yourself?…)  When you check out their site, you’ll be impressed with some of the tours they offer; they’re truly an inspiration.

Do this experiment:

1. Tell your kids about ChildVenture excursions and watch their response.

2. Prepare to send them on an expedition that will not only make them fall in love with outdoors, but they will also undoubtedly develop valuable life skills.

3. Congratulate yourself for being a responsible yet hip parent.

4. Don’t forget to go nuts when the kids are gone. When they return, say that you were miserable without them. (And don’t stray away from the script!)

5. Rinse and repeat!

For an easy access to ChildVenture page, just log into www.gearspoke.com and scroll down to our new and well fed FAT footer. When you talk to Mike and Shelby, husband and wife guides extraordinaire, and their 9 (almost 10) kids, just tell them that those cool kids at GearSpoke sent you.

One last quick rave about ChildVenture: What’s really impressive about them, is they do all their adventuring as a family; Your kid will be surrounded by 9 (almost 10) other spirited and positive young souls.

Follow along with Childventure and learn about the best adventure spots for kids and families across Alaska. They’ve got a wonderful blog!

As we make more outdoor friends you’ll see more logos on our homepage. If you want to become our next friend, we’d love to hear about it!

The summer is near, go and get that adventure now!

ChildVenture: “Build a world wide community of adventurous families learning, sharing and inspiring each other to spend quality time together.”

A GearSpoke love story; the story of Joe.

GearSpoke love
Chapter 1
Browse For an Item
One day while browsing GearSpoke, Joe’s eyes light up after he spots a beautiful snowboard. After looking at a couple of pictures and reading a thorough description, he can’t stop thinking about the snowboard and decides he wants to take it out to his favorite ski resort. He is happy to find out that the snowboard lives in Mary’s house, which is just a few
blocks away.

Chapter 2
Schedule a Rental
Joe works up the courage to ask Mary if he can spend a day with her snowboard. Seeing that Joe has a fantastic reputation on GearSpoke, Mary happily accepts. Since Joe wants to make a good first impression, he asks Mary for a good time and meeting place for him to pick up the snowboard. They exchange a few messages using GearSpoke’s Inquiry system, and agree to meet that afternoon at Mary’s place.

Chapter 3
The item pick up
When Joe meets Mary, she reminds him that the snowboard needs to be home no later than tomorrow at 6:30pm. Joe reassures her that he will take good care of it. After making sure the snowboard is safely buckled up in the seat next to him, the two head off on their first adventure together. When he arrives at the ski resort, he notices a lot of people standing in a line trying to find snowboards to take out, but they look tired and frustrated with the whole process.  He chuckles softly and hugs the snowboard under his arm, making a mental note to thank the creators of GearSpoke for their glorious website.

Chapter 4
Return the Item
It’s the next afternoon.  Joe has had a wonderful time with the snowboard, but he knows Mary is waiting for its safe and timely return. He wipes the snow from the board and tightens up a loose bolt on the bindings that he noticed during their time together on the mountain. Mary smiles when she sees Joe coming down the driveway with the snowboard,
well before curfew. She can see that the snowboard has been treated well and decides to write a glowing review about Joe on GearSpoke.

Party!

Our launch party was a blast!  You can’t really go wrong when you have such a good group of people filling a great space.  A lot of entrepreneurs came and filled the space C.I.T.C. generously donated to us.  The Rickness made us laugh with his stand up act and the party games were hilarious   The caribou didn’t turn out but the salmon was delish.

We all had a good time at the launch party

It was so good, I want GearSpoke to have another launch party.
